Misunderstandings and Angst

Misunderstandings and Angst

These fic rec lists give me life in the interim between your
updates! I’m a sucker for misunderstandings/miscommunication and I knowthat sometimes goes along with the pining tab (which you’ve done
already) but do you have any recs that involve lots of misunderstandings
and lack of communication leading to angst? Some comic lack of
communication is fine but I live for things like Catching Lightning in a
Bottle where everyone assumes the worst but it all gets worked out in
the end? <3

Misunderstandings and angst are two of my favorite things, Anon!  Obviously, lol.  I don’t know if I should say “enjoy!” but here you go!

AVOID MISUNDERSTANDINGS BY LETTING YOUR AUTHORS KNOW YOU LOVE THEM WITH COMMENTS AND KUDOS!

In Deep Water by @itsallavengers: The Avengers want a pool. Tony can arrange that for
them. He can. The thought doesn’t fill him with horrible, daunting dread
and crippling fear.
Not at all.(Or maybe denial does more harm than good)

The Single Biggest Problem with Communication by @blossomsinthemist:
In the wake of Steve’s return from the dead and the end of Norman
Osborn’s reign of terror, the superhero community is recovering–Steve
has taken on a new role and Tony is trying to put his life back
together.  Things are still awkward between them, but they’re determined
to put things to rights. But when a discussion about their feelings
leads to further misunderstandings, they discover that might be more
difficult than either of them realized.  Set in the early Heroic Age
after the end of Dark Reign, this is a get-together story about crossed
wires–and second chances.

If Only You Could Tell Me What I Need to Hear by lwielaura:
The sad thing was that it wasn’t even a surprise at all. Tony was used
to it. He was used to the pain of not being good enough, he was used to
be let down just when his hopes were high and he was used to be
neglected for something better than him.
No big news, no big
surprises, just his life being his life. The worst thing, however, was
that no matter how often it had happened to him, it never stopped
hurting like the very first time.

Screaming and Screaming (But I Just Can’t Hear You) by AngeNoir: Two years. Two years, of trying to get Tony to
spend more time with him, of trying to subtly let Tony know he wanted
their relationship to be more public, of trying to get Tony to let him
in.No more. Steve was done.

You’re Not Stubborn (Just Impossible) by @wordsplat:
Steve’s an alpha, Tony’s an omega. Biology should take care of the rest,
right? Except, Tony’s not anything like TV taught Steve omegas were–or
like anyone else Steve’s ever met, actually–and Steve should really
learn to just keep his mouth shut about that. Also, it doesn’t help that
Tony’s not too keen on the idea of alphas. Or Steve. Yeah, this bonding
thing looked a whole lot easier on TV.

Holding Out for a Hero by @wordsplat:
When Tony was a prince and Steve was his manservant, they were young and
reckless and hopelessly in love. But an attack on Tony’s life convinces
Steve that he can’t protect Tony, so he leaves in the dead of night to
train until he can. Ten years later, Steve returns to the kingdom a
strong and able knight, but his king is both furious and broken-hearted.

Star Spangled Spider by Red City: Steve and Natasha are bros.Steve likes Tony, Tony likes Steve. Natasha likes Clint, Clint likes Natasha.
Too
bad Tony and Clint think Steve and Natasha are dating.Or, the one where
miscommunication and assumptions add a whole lot of unnecessary (and
delicious) angst.
