Getting Back Together

Getting Back Together

Hello!! I LOVE your blog — it’s helped me discover so many fics I hadn’t seen before from just combing through AO3 myself. I read a divorce!fic series you recommended before called Concatenation and holy frick I was not prepared for that truly deeply UNhappy ending. Do you know any fics that are divorce but with a happy ending? The only other I’ve found is Catching Lightning which I’ve read already ;;

Glad you are enjoying the blog, and that you liked CL!  As for divorce fics, I haven’t read many (though check out the Breaking Up Then Making Up recs).  Concatenation is considered by many to be the classic divorce fic, but it is too angsty even for me!  Here are a couple of the breaking up and getting back together fics, though, so hopefully you will enjoy those.

AUTHORS BREAK UP WITH FICS THAT DON’T GET COMMENTS AND KUDOS!

Second chance…maybe by 8fred9: Steve leaves Tony after five years of marriage, never knowing what big news Tony was about to reveal to him.Years later he find out he mess up more then he ever though possible.

Darling, You Look Perfect Tonight by @tonystarkssnipples (WiP): They broke up in college and haven’t seen each other since. It’s been ten years.Things
resurface, feelings are realized, and things might just work out for
Steve and Tony after all (even if it took them a long time to get
there).

kiss me by @starksquill
:  Steve and Tony have been separated for five years. Their son Peter can
see they still love each other and tries to get them back together. Only
problem: they are literally never in the same room together. The
christmas party is his one shot all year when they are in the same room
together so he, along with Uncle Buck and Aunt Nat, scheme to get his
parent back together.

Used to be Mine by @fangirlingmanaged: (WiP, but happy ending promised in tags)
Steve makes a choice.

Seasons of Love by Missy_dee811:
Seasons change, people don’t. Maybe Mr. Right isn’t Mr. Right Now.

And Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Now by kaceywithak: Like all good stories, it starts with a phone call that changes everything.Or, that time where Bucky Barnes of all people finally got Tony to
come home and Steve may be a decade older but he hasn’t changed a bit.

Operation Knuckleheads by @festiveferret:
Bucky is enjoying his new, post-Winter Soldier life at Avengers Tower,
until he discovers that the constant tension between Steve and Tony was
caused by a recent (and mysterious) breakup. Determined to make his
friends happy, Bucky gives himself a new mission: figure out what went
wrong, and get these two idiots in love back together again.

Somedays It Don’t Come Easy by @thecitylightshow: Tony wanted to hurl the phone across the room. Opening the
drawer of Steve’s desk – and lord was it bad enough he was sat in
Steve’s office, little used as it was, to read that infernal letter – he
rather wished he had. No hint of them, in this room, in the
letter. No hint of even a second of it; except for the little black
velvet box tucked away in the drawer. The ring nestles in deep red
material, a thick golden band with a blue star inlaid. In a different
circumstance, the answer would be shaking, and the ring would be slipped
on with gentle fingers- He’s not even sure when he lost it, he just knows that it’s not his, anymore.

Tony’s Place by @captainneverever:
Tony has the hottest nightclub in Madripoor, until his lost love Steve
Rogers, a man he knew as artist in Paris, walks in and changes
everything.

Catching Lightning in a Bottle by sabrecmc: College student Tony meets janitor Steve at MIT and they fall
blissfully in love, until Howard happens and things fall apart.  One
divorce paperwork snafu courtesy of the ever-helpful Jarvis, and ten
years later, Tony has to get re-divorced from Steve.  This does not go as he imagines.Or, the Sweet Home Alabama AU that no one–well, okay, a few of you–asked for.
